Employment Eligibility Documents

Federal regulations require the college to comply with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. All new employees must personally present documents verifying identity and eligibility to be employed in the United States. The employee must complete and sign an “Employment Eligibility Verification Form” (I-9 Form) after an offer is made and accepted, but on or before the first day of work.  The Office of Human Resources is responsible for reviewing the employee’s documentation and completing the I-9 Form within three (3) days of the employee’s first day of work. If the employee is unable to present the required documentation or documents within the time frame, the employee must provide a receipt showing that he or she has applied for the document. In addition, the employee must present the actual document within 90 days of the first day of work. If the employee is unable to provide the necessary documentation or provide within the aforementioned time frames, he or she will be terminated.

If a manager or supervisor is notified by any governmental agency that it is going to conduct an inspection of the I-9 documents, contact the Office of Human Resources immediately.
