Children In The Workplace
At Central College, we encourage employees to invite their family members to campus events and to use campus facilities as appropriate. Their participation at athletic, social, cultural and religious events helps family members get to know Central and builds camaraderie among the faculty, staff and students. For safety reasons, we ask that minor children be accompanied by their parents, guardians or other authorized adults, at all times while on campus. Unfortunately, there are circumstances where minor children could get injured on a college campus.
In fairness to the college, to our colleagues and to our students, employees are asked to avoid bringing their minor children into the workplace during the work day. Faculty and staff are expected to arrange for independent childcare during their regular work day. The nature of an employee’s responsibilities can be considered in determining an employee’s work day parameters. Faculty and staff should avoid bringing minor children into workplace settings (e.g. classrooms, labs, offices, meeting spaces, athletic facilities, etc.).
Unforeseen circumstances and/or emergencies do arise that may make it necessary to bring a child to campus for a short time during the work day. Please speak with your supervisor or department chair on these occasions. Sick children should not be brought at any time to campus for the protection of the entire campus community.
