Quiet And Courtesy Hours
In order to make the atmosphere conducive to learning and living, conditions which encourage this have been established and apply to all residential buildings.
- The minimum established quiet hours are from 12 a.m. (midnight) – 9 a.m. each evening. At the beginning of each semester, “quiet hours” will be established by each floor or wing, which can only extend, not reduce, the minimum hours established. During quiet hours, noise should be limited to a level which will not disturb the nearest neighbors’ attempts to sleep or study.
- Courtesy hours are always in effect which means noise should never exceed reasonable levels and a student is expected to comply with a request of another student or staff member to lower the noise to an agreed upon level.
- Twenty-three hour quiet hours for semester final exams begin the evening before the first campus-wide “study day”, or two days before the first test and will remain in effect for the duration of the semester. The hour from 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. is designated for this purpose.
